Across the Spider-Verse Delayed to 2023, Madame Web Dated

Last night, Sony did some shifting to their upcoming Spider-Man related movies, bumping Across the Spider-Verse into next year, offering a date for the follow-up, and more!

Well, this is a bummer. I get it, things are still crazy/recovering, and animation is taking more time to get things right. Even so, it still kinda sucks that we won’t be seeing Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse later this year.

During a slew of release date shifting last night, Sony moved the highly anticipated sequel from its October slot and moved it to June 2, 2023. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait terribly long after Across the Spider-Verse to watch the third movie as Sony has dated that for March 29, 2024.

Now, when Across the Spider-Verse was first revealed, they announced it would be “Part 1,” but Sony has now confirmed they’ve dropped that aspect from the title. The third movie will still serve as a direct follow-up, however, but sounds like it’ll get a whole new name.

On the live-action side of things, Sony has gone ahead and given a date for their upcoming Madame Web film (starring Dakota Johnson). That will launch on July 7, 2023, just one month after Across the Spider-Verse.

Now, if things stay the same that puts Madame Web just one week after Indiana Jones 5 and one week before Mission: Impossible 7…That seems rough. Not to mention Ant-Man 3 launching just a few weeks later. I guess they’re confident in what Madame Web can offer!
