Austin Butler Might Portray the Villainous Feyd-Rautha in Dune: Part Two

According to a new report, Warner Bros. may have found their Feyd-Rautha in Dune: Part Two in the star of Elvis.

Quite possibly the biggest new casting for the Dune sequel (aside from Princess Irulan) will be for the role of Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen. The young nephew of Baron Harkonnen is a primary antagonist in the story and established as a parallel to Paul himself. Since he wasn’t in the first film, like his brother Rabban, fans have been waiting to see who would land the role.

According to a new report from Deadline, it sounds like Denis Villenueve already has his sights set on Austin Butler. The actor, who takes the starring role in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis biopic (where he looks pretty great), is currently in negotiations to play the part and join the cast of returning characters.

This marks the second new cast member/character for Dune: Part Two within the last few days (with Florence Pugh hopefully joining on as Irulan), which means things are certainly gearing up for that Summer shoot. While Butler wasn’t on my radar for the role, I have no doubt the filmmakers know how to make this sequel work.

Dune: Part Two is set to hit theaters on October 20, 2023.
