Daisy Ridley Returns to Star Wars for Next Film!

Officially announced during Star Wars Celebration, Daisy Ridley will reprise her role as Rey Skywalker in a new film set 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker!

It’s finally official! During this morning’s Studio Showcase kicking off Star Wars Celebration Europe, Kathleen Kennedy gave fans a (much needed) update on the movie side of the Star Wars galaxy. Among them is the official announcement of Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy directing a Star Wars film (the one Damon Lindelof had been working on).

Even better, however, Rey Skywalker herself, Daisy Ridely, surprised fans by coming out on stage and revealing she would be returning for the upcoming film! While details are still scant at the moment, they revealed the movie takes place 15 years after the end of The Rise of Skywalker and will show Rey leading a new Jedi Academy!

I can’t tell you how excited I am for this one. I love the idea of getting a follow-up film that isn’t necessarily part of a new trilogy and can just do it’s own thing, while continuing the story. Hopefully we’ll get a little bit more on this one sooner, rather than later.
