Ms. Marvel Director, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, To Helm New Star Wars Film for Lucasfilm

Looks like progress is being made on Daman Lindelof’s secretive Star Wars film, as Lucasfilm has reportedly hired Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy to direct it!

Well here’s a fun bit of Star Wars news to kick off the week! Apparently the previously rumored Star Wars film being developed by Damon Lindelof is making some progress. According to a new report from Deadline, Lucasfilm has hired Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy to direct the film.

Obaid-Chinoy directed several episodes of Ms. Marvel (which I loved) and also has the notable distinction of being the only Pakistani to have won TWO Oscars. According to Deadline’s sources, this isn’t necessarily an indicator filming will be happening any time soon, as apparently Lindelof wanted a director brought on board early in the story process to ensure a cohesive vision.

Even so, it sounds like it’s definitely chugging along. With other films in the works, LFL still isn’t letting anyone know what’s coming next, nor what the stories behind the new films will be. Alas…at least we have some great live-action Star Wars shows to keep us occupied!
