Destin Daniel Cretton is Developing a Wonder Man Series for Disney+

The filmmaker who brought Shang-Chi to the big screen is developing a new Marvel series for Disney+, bringing Wonder Man into the MCU.

Well this is interesting! According to The Hollywood Reporter, Destin Daniel Cretton is currently working on a Wonder Man series for Disney+. Back in December, it was revealed the director had signed a multi-year contract with Marvel. While most of us assumed this meant more Shang-Chi related stuff (which we are getting a sequel), it looks like Cretton is going to be branching beyond that.

The report also mentions the Wonder Man show is bringing in Andrew Guest (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) to write the script for the show, which is hoping to film at some point next year.

To be entirely honest, I’m only vaguely familiar with the character. I know in the comics he has strong connections to both the Vision (at one time even a potential Wanda love interest), as well as Baron Zemo. As such, Wonder Man could fill out some interesting gaps with these characters, while bringing them back for more projects.

I love Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings so I’m pretty much on board with whatever he’s bringing to the MCU at this point.
