Gil Kenan Chosen to Direct Sequel to ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’

The sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife has found its director and they’re a big fan of Ghostbusters.

With the sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife entering pre-production, it’s been announced that Gil Kenan has been chosen to direct the film, taking over from Jason Reitman who directed the 2021 film. While Reitman won’t be directing the sequel, he will be staying involved as a writer-producer.

“It’s an absolute honor to pick up the proton pack and step behind the camera for the next chapter of the Spengler family saga,” said Kenan. “I just wish I could go back to 1984 and tell the kid in the sixth row of the Mann Valley West that one day he was going to get to direct a Ghostbusters film.”

The as-yet-untitled sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife is currently set to be released in theaters in December 2023. What do you think of Gil Kenan directing this new film?
