Marvel revealed a brand new trailer for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings tonight on ESPN, offering up tons of great new footage.
Shang-Chi was already high on my watch list just by its nature of being a martial arts flick AND comic book movie, but tonight’s new trailer has completely sealed in the hype:
I love all the action we’re seeing here, as well as the bigger hints at the story we’ll see for this character. Also, did you freaking see ABOMINATION?! Yep, he’s back and making a quick appearance before he’ll show up in the She-Hulk show. All around, there’s a lot to love in this trailer and it remains one of the Marvel films I’m most excited about seeing.
Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings, featuring Shang-Chi (Simu Liu), a young Super Hero whose journey of self-discovery unfolds in this never-before-seen origin story. Destin Daniel Cretton, the film’s director and one of the writers, is excited to bring Shang-Chi’s story to the big screen. “Shang-Chi’s main problem in his life is rooted in not knowing who he really is,” says Cretton. “He has to learn how to own every part of himself. If he doesn’t allow himself to look at all of it—the good, the bad, the light and the dark—and to own it all, he won’t be able to reach his full potential.”
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings hits theaters on September 3, 2021.
