An unexpected addition to The Flash‘s official cast list apparently reveals the return of the Man of Steel villains in the DC film.
Warner Bros. official 2022 Preview Kit continues to be the gift that keeps on giving this morning. On top of giving us confirmation that Michael Keaton is back as Batman in Batgirl there’s also some juicy The Flash revelations.
It’s a barebones breakdown of the films to look forward to in 2022, and gives a pretty non-committal plot synopsis:
Ezra Miller stars as Barry Allen, AKA The Flash, who pushes the limits of his superpowers in the DC Super Hero’s first-ever standalone feature film.
The REAL interesting thing, is the updated cast list included in the preview. A cast list that now includes Michael Shannon and Antje Traue who played General Zod and his second-in-command, Faora in Man of Steel. We know the film is playing around with DC’s multiverse, but I don’t think these characters were ever even rumored before now!
I loved Man of Steel, and I particularly loved these villains. Shannon’s Zod was menacing and scene-stealing, while Faora was a badass addition who could have easily carried the movie as the sole antagonist. As such, I’m more than excited to see how they’ll be brought back for The Flash (I’m guessing they’ll be giving Sasha Calle’s Supergirl some trouble).
The Flash is slated to hit theaters on November 4, 2022.
