Ryan Gosling coming to a Galaxy Far, Far Away?

In a report published by the Hollywood Reporter, it’s been revealed that actor Ryan Gosling is in talks to star in Shawn Levy’s upcoming Star Wars film project.

According to the article, Gosling is in talks to headline the as of yet untitled Star Wars project that has been in development since 2022. The project sees Levy joining forces with Jonathan Tropper, who has been working on a script for the film for over a year. Previous the two have worked together on The Adam Project, an This is Where I Leave You.

Additional details regarding the film are few and far between, it’s been confirmed that Levy’s film will be unconnected to the Skywalk Saga, but other than that small confirmation, little else is known on how, or where the story will fit in to the broader Star Wars universe.

Gosling’s involvement in the film will mark another rare occurance of an A-list actor’s involvment in a Star Wars film, as the films themselves often have used actors that are not typically household names at the time, with the exception being Liam Neeson’s role of Qui-Gon Jinn in The Phantom Menace.

Gosling has been all over the entertainment space recently, his turn as Ken in the Barbie movie, and then as stunt man Colt Seavers, even his turn as Beavis on SNL have shown that not only is he a handsome face, but a genuinely funny dude that doesn’t take himself too seriously, a combination that Shawn Levy has shown to be able to work wonders with. Having him in the Star Wars universe defintely has my curiousity piqued for this project.
