There’s lots of huge news coming out of CinemaCon 2026, but among it all, the strangest and most surprising information is likely this: Sony studios has confirmed the first new product for the Bloodborne IP, the Playstation 4-exclusive Fromsoft action RPG title that many consider to be the pinnacle of the developer’s catalogue, even in a post-Elden Ring universe. Sony and Fromsoft have been quietly butting heads over the explicit rights to create more products in this setting, making for a veritable drought when it came to anything but industry rumors and fanmade upscale mods. Now, however, something has shifted, and though it isn’t a new game, it could be, potentially, the next best thing: A brand new, animated feature film.
Even more interesting than that is the name attached it: Legendary Youtube creator Jacksepticeye has been tapped to produce, or at the very least, will be connected to the project in some capacity. Details are very light at the moment.
There is a lot of be excited for in this news, as sparse as it is. Fans have been clamoring for movement in the Bloodborne IP for literally more than a decade at this point, and if a new game isn’t in the cards, then an animated film could be a perfect way to adapt the eldritch horrors and ultraviolence inherent to the setting. The inclusion of Jacksepticeye is something of a wildcard, to be certain, but with the celebration of such recent YouTuber-led projects as Markiplier’s Iron Lung are any example, we could very well be on the cusp of taking these creators seriously in larger-scale productions. This is definitely going to be one to keep an eye on, for sure!
