Troll Is Returning as an Animated Feature and Series

There’s a new wizard in town!  Sort of.  SC Films International, a London-based company, is in pre-production for a new project which will reprise ‘Troll’, a 1986 cult classic.  It is to be produced as an animated film and television series titled Troll: The Rise of Harry Potter, Jr.  However, do not confuse this with the J.K. Rowling franchise as Harry Potter, Harry Potter Jr., and his family were characters in Troll which was independently produced and distributed 11 years before Rowling’s version!

The general synopsis is that the animated feature will revisit the magical world created in the original Troll film.  Envision an evil, magical troll wizard as the villain doing what villains do best and trying to take over the world.  It is up to Harry Potter, Jr. and his witch accomplice to save the planet from being taken over by the troll wizard.

Who will be the voices of our two heroes?  Patricia Arquette, an Academy Award winning actress, is set to play the voice of the witch with the young, up and coming Baxter Bartlett to play Harry Potter Jr.  Some of the cast members of the original film include Noah Hathaway, Michael Moriarty, Shelley Hack, June Lockhart and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Another interesting addiction that is sure to add some authenticity to the project is that John Carl Buechler, the writer and director of the 1986 version has signed on to co-produce the full length 3D feature as well as Peter Davy.  When asked about his decision to join the team Buechler stated, “The original ‘Troll’ has achieved cult status, and based upon its success we believed that the timing was right to produce an updated 3D animated version for a whole new generation of filmgoers.”

Viewers can expect the film’s release in early 2017.  However,an animated TV series is expected to be released as early as next year.  There are even discussions being made with Harbin ‘Window to Eurasia‘ Theme of Northern China on a possible Troll themed venue and branding program.
