An ‘Eragon’ TV Adaptation is in the Works at Disney+

A new adaptation of the Eragon series is in the works and it’s being created for Disney+.

An exclusive report from Variety has revealed that a new adaptation of the Eragon series by Christopher Paolini is being developed by Disney+. According to this report, Paolini will serve as a co-writer for the series with Bert Salke serving as an executive producer.

This development is welcome news to fans of the books who have long hoped for a better adaptation of the series than the badly received 2006 movie adaptation.

As a refresher, the plot of Eragon and the Inheritance Cycle as a whole can be described as follows:

The Inheritance Cycle tells the story of a farmboy named Eragon who discovers an egg that hatches into a dragon he names Saphira. Through their bond and the help of his mentor Brom, Eragon learns to be a Dragon Rider, an ancient order that had long been thought to be wiped out by the evil king Galbatorix. Eragon and Saphira set out to defeat Galbatorix and free the land of Alagaësia from his tyranny.

There are no further details on the Eragon series at this time, but it will be exciting to see what Disney+ does with the story.
