It appears Disney CEO may have seen the many media reports that stated Netflix saw a soaring rise in subscriptions (and those sweet dollars) after its contentious crackdown on password sharing earlier this year.

Iger said in an earning’s call on Wednesday, August 9, that Disney+ subscribers can expect the House of Mouse to take similar measures starting next year, according to a report by IGN. He reportedly cited the crackdown as a “priority” for next year.

“We are actively exploring ways to address account sharing and the best options for paying subscribers to share their accounts with friends and family,” Iger said, according to the report. “Later this year, we will begin to update our subscriber agreements with additional terms and our sharing policies. And we will roll out tactics to drive monetization sometime in 2024.”

In the call presentation, Disney revealed they saw a dip of 0.3 million domestic subscribers in the last quarter, with a 1.1 million growth among international subscribers. Hulu saw a slight bump of 0.1 million subs and ESPN+ saw a drop of the same amount.

The company cited a number of key upcoming streaming releases, including:

  • High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season four on August 9 on Disney+.
  • Solar Opposites season four on August 14 on Hulu and Disney+.
  • Muguel Wants A Fight on August 16 on Hulu.
  • Ahsoka sesaon one on August 23 on Disney+.
  • Vacation Friends 2 on August 25 on Hulu.
  • The Little Mermaid (2023) on September 6 on Disney+.
