Victoria Cartagena Cast as Renee Montoya for Season 3 of ‘Batwoman’

The upcoming third season of Batwoman continues to take shape as Victoria Cartagena has been revealed to be joining the cast.

In an exclusive report from Deadline, it’s been revealed that Victoria Cartagena is joining the cast of Batwoman for season 3 in the role of Renee Montoya, a character longtime fans of the Batman story will be more than familiar with. This won’t be the first time Cartagena has played this role either, as she also played Montoya on Gotham, though it’s being emphasized that this will be a different version of the character.

The new version of Renee Montoya is described as follows:

Cartagena’s Montoya is a former GCPD officer who left the force when she could no longer stomach the corruption inside the department. She now runs the “freaks division,” which hasn’t seen a lot of action… until now. Righteous and pragmatic, and LGBTQ+, she’s a woman with a very personal (and mysterious) mission to help clean the streets of Gotham in the right way, by whatever means necessary.

Victoria Cartagena joins a cast that has recently grown to include Robin Givens as Jada Jet. Season 3 of Batwoman is scheduled to premiere on October 13, 2021 on the CW.
