[Update] Double Fine’s Broken Age: Kickstarter-backers to receive the game tomorrow!

[Editor’s Update: While original KickStarter backers of the game will get the chance to play shortly, the rest of us will have to wait a little bit longer Double Fine’s Tim Schafer just announced on the site that Act 1 will launch on January 28th for Windows, Mac, and Linux.  The original article follows below!]

Backers of Broken Age will no doubt be delighted to get their hands on the eagerly anticipated game tomorrow. Tomorrow also brings small consolation prize for none-backing Broken Age fans, with a public release date due to be announced.

Broken Age has been described as an “old-school adventure game” and has been praised for its endearing, creative art style.

Double Fine have also announced that the game will not be available under the Steam Early Access program: “You may recall that at one point Broken Age was planned for release under the Steam Early Access program. “This is no longer the case. For various logistical reasons, and because we believe Act 1 is a polished and satisfying piece of content in its own right, Broken Age will be a standard Steam release that includes a “Season Pass” granting access to Act 2 once it is complete. Anyone who has Act 1—either by being a backer, or by buying the game separately—will receive Act 2 as a free update when it’s ready.”

We look forward to hearing more about Broken Age, and other fantastic Kickstarter projects which put publicly funded games into the limelight.
