Bandai Namco Announces A My Hero Academia Battle Royale Game ‘My Hero Ultra Rumble’

A new My Hero Academia game is on the horizon, but with a new Battle Royale approach. Bandai Namco released an announcement trailer for their upcoming 24-player Battle Royale based within the beloved manga and anime world of My Hero Academia, titled My Hero Ultra Rumble.

In this game, teams of 3 will jump into battle within the expansive, dilapidated My Hero Academia arena to take on Heroes and Villains. Much like the series, each character will have their own Quirks for players to take advantage of. However, unlike the series, the game has these characters separated by role: assault, support, and disruption. It’ll take strategy and skill to put together the most dominant team and be the last group standing.

My Hero Ultra Rumble is a bit of an outlier in the My Hero game series. Until now, most of the games have been fighting games. So, having a Battle Royale is a welcome change. Especially since the trailer makes it feel like you’re actually taking control of these characters in a way that you can’t really in fighting games, traversal specifically.

PS4 players will be able to sign up for the Closed Beta Test now. Although no specific date for that has been set.

My Hero Ultra Rumble will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam. No launch date has been announced yet.
