New Blade Runner Video Game Announced

For the first time in 25 years, Blade Runner is returning to video games, with a new title from Annapurna Interactive, Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth.

The world of Blade Runner is really starting to expand. Between new comics, an upcoming live-action series, and now a video game, fans have a lot to look forward to. During today’s Annapurna Interactive showcase, the publisher revealed Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth. The game will tell a new story set between the original film and Blade Runner 2049.

Annapurna Interactive, publisher of award-winning video games including Stray and Outer Wilds, has partnered with Alcon Interactive Group to develop Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth, the first new Blade Runner game in 25 years.

Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth takes place in 2033, squarely between the original film Blade Runner and the sequel, Blade Runner 2049, and set in a dystopian Los Angeles after the Blackout hits. The game will be the first title from Annapurna Interactive’s internal studio led by game director Chelsea Hash (Solar Ash, What Remains of Edith Finch, Radiohead’s KID A MNESIA EXHIBITION).

The critically acclaimed Blade Runner 2049 was produced by Alcon Entertainment. Alcon Television Group recently announced they are in pre-production on a live-action series titled Blade Runner 2099 for Amazon Prime. Details of the series are being kept under wraps.

No release date, or window, for the game has been revealed just yet, but Annapurna promises more news is coming soon. Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth is set to hit PCs and consoles.
