LEGO has revealed another massive Lord of the Rings set, this time bringing the iconic tower of Barad-Dûr to life (in brick form) this June!
Lord of the Rings fans are eating surprisingly well this past week. On top of news about a new live-action film from Andy Serkis and Peter Jackson, the first look at War of the Rohirrim, and the first trailer for Rings of Power season 2, there’s also this insanely cool new LEGO set to drool over!
Coming in at over 5,400 pieces, fans will be able to build the iconic tower that serves as Sauron’s base of power within Mordor next month. Based on the appearance from the film, it even includes the all-seeing Eye which can be rotated around and even lights up. Couple that with 10 new minifigures, and this is an impressive villains set to work as a companion to last year’s Rivendell!
Today, the LEGO Group, in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, reveals the LEGO® Icons Lord of the Rings: Barad-Dûr set, inspired by the award-winning film adaptations. Now in brick form, the epic dark tower and Eye of Sauron build has many hidden fan “treasures” and story references from the Lord of the Rings.
Prepare to journey deep into the heart of Middle-earth with the unveiling of the spectacular LEGO Icons Lord of the Rings: Barad-Dûr set! With its imposing 5,471 pieces, this awe-inspiring masterpiece brings to life the dark tower of Mordor in stunning detail, packed with thrilling features and beloved characters from Tolkien’s timeless saga. The journey through the dark tower continues with the throne room – which includes a compartment that opens to reveal a map, and a ladder on the top floor of the tower that can be moved left and right.
At the summit lies the Eye of Sauron that rotates in various directions and features a light brick to make the eye glow. There are also 10 minifigures, including Sauron™, Mouth of Sauron™, Orc™, Frodo, Sam, Gollum™ and Gothmog.
In addition, purchases made between 1-7 June will receive a free LEGO® Icons The Lord of the Rings™: Fell Beast™ set, which features posable wings and joints and a Nazgul minifigure.
The build is split into four main sections, with the tower section being fully modular. LEGO fans with more than one copy of the set will be able to stack this section to build a taller tower.
If that’s not enough for you, those who buy the set between June 1-7th will get a free Fell Beast set to go with it!
LEGO Icons Lord of the Rings: Barad-Dûr set costs $459.99 will be available to LEGO Insiders starting on June 1, 2024 online. Starting June 4th it’ll be available for everyone online and in LEGO stores.
