Dark Horse Comics Releasing The Legend of Vox Machina: The Whitestone Chronicles- Ripley in Spring 2024

A new Critical Role graphic novel is on the way and it’s going to be following one of the story’s most infamous villains!

It was announced earlier today that Dark Horse Comics would be releasing The Legend of Vox Machina: The Whitestone Chronicles- Ripley, a graphic novel that follows the rise of Dr. Anna Ripley after the Briarwoods take power in Whitestone. The graphic novel is set to be released in bookstores on April 16, 2024 and in comic book stores the following day. The story is being written by Marieke Nijkamp, who previously wrote Critical Role: Vox Machina: Kith and Kin.

Ripley is one of the most notorious villains Vox Machina ever encountered and for good reason, as she proved to be quite the thorn in the group’s side. Seeing the rise of Ripley under the Briarwood’s rule will be interesting to watch as this is an era we still don’t know too much about. While hints have been dropped as to what Ripley got up to in the years before Vox Machina came to Whitestone, we’ve never seen for certain what happened….but all of that is about to change. This graphic novel is set to be the first in a trilogy set in the years after the Briarwoods took power from the de Rolos and before Vox Machina arrived to help Percy de Rolo take it back.

The official synopsis reads as follows:

Tragedy strikes the renowned de Rolo family of Whitestone when they’re massacred by the vicious Briarwoods. Luckily for Dr. Anna Ripley, the bloodshed and regime change present the perfect opportunity for her to further her own dark plans in service to Whitestone’s new ruling family. But just how much of her loyalty lies with the family, when compared to her work?

The Legend of Vox Machina: The Whitestone Chronicles- Ripley is being released on April 16, 2024 in bookstores and in comic book stores the following day. Will you be picking it up?
