‘Dunk and Egg’ Game of Thrones Series Officially Moving Forward

Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming presentation confirmed the company has given a series order to a new Game of Thrones prequel spin-off about Dunk & Egg.

Pretty much since HBO announced they were looking to make Game of Thrones spin-offs, one of the most requested (especially from me) has been an adaptation of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. The series of short novellas, affectionately referred to as the adventures of “Dunk and Egg,” are ridiculously good. If you haven’t read them (they’re short unlike the other novels in the series), there’s no reason to skip out on them.

After years of rumors, and even hiring a writer over a year ago, it’s finally happening. During yesterday’s Max presentation, the studios confirmed they’ve given it a full series order under the title, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight (a mouthful).

HBO has given a series order to drama series A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS: THE HEDGE KNIGHT, it was announced today exclusively during Warner Bros. Discovery’s unveiling of the Max streaming service on the Warner Bros. lot in Los Angeles. The “Game of Thrones” prequel series will be written and executive produced by George R.R. Martin and Ira Parker. Ryan Condal and Vince Gerardis will also executive produce.

A century before the events of “Game of Thrones,” two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.

Obviously it’s a bit early for a release date (still no cast or directors in place), but I’m just thrilled to see it finally happening.
