Game of Thrones’ Dunk and Egg Spin-Off Lands a Writer

With House of the Dragon already filming and preparing to launch next year, the next Game of Thrones spin-off has brought Steve Conrad on board to write.

From the moment they first mentioned developing Game of Thrones prequels/spin-offs, my biggest hope was to see Dunk & Egg come to life. The characters come from a series of short novellas set in the world of Westeros and are still some of my favorite stories from George R.R. Martin.

They put the focus on Ser Duncan the Tall and Egg, the future king Aegon V. Taregaryen roughly 90-ish years prior to the events of A Song of Ice and Fire. These stories are a ridiculous amount of fun, with characters you quickly come to love and concise stories that don’t drag you along.

Earlier this year, HBO revealed a prequel series based on those adventures was in the works and now it looks like they’ve added a writer. Deadline reports that HBO have hired Steve Conrad (The Pursuit of Happyness and Prime Video’s Patriot series) to write and executive produce the upcoming live-action series.

While it’s still early in development, I’m none the less excited to see this series making some progress. If you haven’t read Dunk & Egg, you can pick up the collection of all three novellas in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
