Insomniac Releases Statement on Recent Hack

The developers at Insomniac have formally addressed the hack on their studio, while confirming work on Marvel’s Wolverine is going forward as planned.

If you follow the game industry to any degree it’s been pretty hard to miss the week’s biggest story. Insomniac Games were victims of a cyberattack in which a bunch of information (including staff’s personal info) was stolen and then attempted to be ransomed. The result has been a slew of illicit leaks from the upcoming Wolverine game along with other things in development.

Due to the criminal nature of the hack (this isn’t info gathered from sources and ethically reported on), we’ve pointedly avoided sharing any of the information here on Cinelinx. Throughout it all, Insomniac has remained silent while the gaming community at large has rallied to their side. This morning, however, the developers issued a statement through social media:

For those worried about what the hack meant for the development of Wolverine (wouldn’t be the first time a game was scrapped due to a massive breach), it’s nice to have confirmation they’re pushing forward.

I can’t wait to see more from Wolverine, but on their time and when it’s in a state to truly show off what fans are getting. Hell, just look at the massive showcase we got for Spider-Man 2 after a couple years of waiting from the initial announcement trailer! That ruled and kicked everyone’s hype into high gear.
