Marvel Shifts Release Dates for Blade, Secret Wars, and More

Marvel/Disney have announced some updates to its release slate, including delays for Deadpool 3, Blade, Fantastic Four, and Avengers: Secret Wars.

You know all those release dates we recently got for Marvel projects coming in the future? Well, I hope you marked them down in pencil. As is to be expected, things have a way of changing. Just today, it was revealed pre-production on Blade has been temporarily halted as the studios continue to look for a new director and seek to polish up the script.

Two weeks ago, director Bassim Tariq left the project and left many fans wondering what this might mean for the upcoming Marvel films and their release dates. Today, brings some clarity on that front as Marvel/Disney have revealed some new delays for a number of upcoming projects:

Blade is now slated to hit on September 6, 2024.

Deadpool 3, which was recently announced and given a September release date will now hit on November 8, 2024.

The new Fantastic Four film that was set for the November slot Deadpool 3 has taken, will now hit theaters on February 14, 2025 (perfect for Valentine’s Day).

Avengers: Secret Wars has moved out of 2025, and will now debut on May 1, 2026.

While it sucks to have to wait, it makes much more sense than having the two Avengers movies come out within 6 months of each other. This gives them each a chance to breathe, much like how Infinity War and Endgame did. It also allows some wiggle room for other projects that don’t have a current date (like Armor Wars which is making the jump from TV show to movie).

For the moment, these are the only updated dates, so projects like Thunderbolts and Avengers: Kang Dynasty seem to be holding on to their current dates.
